主讲概况：刘红元，澳大利亚悉尼大学教授，研究专长：复合材料。工作于澳大利亚悉尼大学Aerospace, mechanical and mechatronic engineering（航空、机械、机电）学院，长期从事复合材料/纳米复合材料力学性能研究，在Engineering Failure Analysis，Engineering Fracture Mechanics等期刊发表研究论文46篇，会议论文48篇。
主讲内容：Epoxies are widely used as matrix materials for high-performance laminated fibre composites owing to their excellent mechanical performance, high chemical and wear resistance, low weight and low cost. However, epoxies are inherently brittle so that the fracture toughness of bulk epoxy and the interlaminar fracture toughness of their composites are relative low compared to other mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and elastic modulus. This presentation reports our previous and recent work on the improvement of fracture toughness of epoxy and its fibre composites.
